“I do not believe the pro-life movement will succeed unless those who are strongly pro-life are also defending the teaching of the Church from the first century - that contraception is a grave sin. For many years I have taught a course on the history of contraception. Now over 5,000 years of recorded history, all contraceptive societies became abortive societies. Contraception leads inevitably to abortion and abortion always leads to the destruction of society.”
- Fr. John Hardon, S.J.Yes. Something that PREVENTS pregnancy is the CAUSE of abortion.
Jesus Fucking Christ. But never mind that. That’s just waaaay too easy.
The same people who are arguing that society is doomed if abortion remains legal are the same people advocating that we return to customs from THE FIRST CENTURY. Not the 20th. Not the 18th. THE FIRST. Never mind that banning contraception would be endangering the lives and health of millions of people. Never mind the fact that after outlawing abortion and banning contraception the next step would be outlawing pre-marital sex altogether. But where would we go from there? Well, chastity belts and genital mutilation certainly wouldn’t be far behind. And if that sounds barbaric you’d be right. You know why?
BECAUSE A LOT OF STUPID AND BARBARIC SHIT HAPPENED IN THE FIRST FUCKING CENTURY.
These people need to be stopped. At all costs. And don’t ever forget it.
Irony at its finest. If these people really wanted less abortions, they would take measures to assure that the abortions don’t need to happen. I am ALL FOR less abortions. I don’t want anyone to have an abortion. I want a world where everyone has access to preventative measures no matter who they are. I want people to stop raping other people and getting them pregnant too. And then I want abortion to still be an option for when everything doesn’t necessarily go according to plan because accidents happen. These anti-choice people who are also anti-contraception don’t want less abortions, they just want to punish people for having sex.
